I admit that I read this book out of curiosity. I found the master described in this book completely inadequate. Without giving away spoilers, for example how can you ask somebody something, when he has been trained - and retrained thoroughly- not to answer you? How can you be glad with the result of someone breaking a rule of his training for you, while you punish him for it? How can you see signs that someone -despite his training- has not been completely dehumanized yet, whip them out of him with retraining and then ask him to be partially human again? I did not like this world at all. I bought the whole trilogy, and it has huge gaps in the world that it describes.
